The mountain house

I want to be like you-oo-oo … I’m going to Jackson.

We’ve been looking for a new house over the last few weeks. Our current house is pretty alright, but when lil’ sister shows up – it will feel snug.

Della has this little MP3 player with her favorite songs on it. Among them is the Jungle Book song ‘I want to be like you’. On the hour, you will hear it. Sort of like our modern clock. In the last few weeks, Della has also decided that Johnny Cash is it. She loves Ring of Fire and hearing Johnny say ‘I’m goin’ to Jackson …’. So those two songs are stuck in our heads, together.

What else?

Della told us she wants a tattoo when she’s a mommy.

‘What do you want D?’
‘A Ball’
‘Where?’
‘Hmm, maybe on my leg … right here.’

The books

Della visited the downtown Seattle library today. If you haven’t seen it from the inside, you should. A marvel of architecture and focus.

After the storm

Christmas eve

After a week of Dell assuring us she had no interest in meeting Santa she cracked. A few minutes ago (Christmas eve) she let us know we needed to pay the bearded elf a visit. The real deal, full white beard in play. Hohohoho.

Now the not so Xmas part of it is that they charge 20$ per photo and no cameras are allowed. Easy to forgive and forget. David sedaris should try having children, it definitely gives it a more snowy and happy gloss.

That makes everything complete with watching Charlie brown Christmas, Die Hard, the grinch, polar express and more. Dell said Santa can visit but the elves can not.

Santa was hohoho-ing at the diet root beer wash

Dell just gave me this wisdom over a cup of coffee. Might be time to cut back on rankin-bass and Xmas music.

Long days

The days aren’t actually gettng longer. In fact it seems to be dark by 4:30 these days. Won’t stop us from chasin the setting sun though.

There was a cold spell for the last week. Temps in the twenties, all sorts if record breaking. No snow yet.

This is the time to get things done. Spring cleaning is overrated.

Don’t go in the water

Just a little bit further

On a trip to the park Della was wading on the shoreline. Her boots were fit for deep puddles. So, easy enough. Well, she tripped and got soaked up to the waist. She asked that now that she was wet, could she go a little further and touch the rock?

Yes.

The aftermath was cups of water pouring out of her boots an a wet shoulder ride to the car.

Epic.

First snows

Up to the mountains

Snow line starts at 3000 feet hopefully. Let’s see what the winter storms brought us.
