Brrrrr, cold
Days are good and cold now. Della, Spain and I are going for winter walks instead of fall walks. Gloves, hats, socks on the hands (well Della anyway).
As Della approaches the 3 month mark, we can finally say that we are falling into some routines around here. For Gingers and Dellas that means:
waking up at 7 for breakfast; milk. milk, milk, mmm, mmm, mmm
going back to bed and sleeping until second breakfast; then we hang out and talk to each other for an hour or so. We gossip about girl things like deedle deedle, lblblblblblblbllb, hshshshshshsh, gaaaaaa, aaaabooooooooo and of course blah.
watching the fish on our shower curtain
tummy time; which makes us both cry but were getting better at looking around for enchanting objects. Della would much prefer to be in her sling and being toted around while she takes inventory of the world. So far, her favorite things are the boy throwing stones at crows picture in the living room, The big black blob that licks her in the face when she cries (the one we call Spain), a small mobile that the little neighbor girls made for her with yellow suns, moons and shooting stars. But Della knows that she has to exercise on her tummy so that she can be a good writer with strong small motor skills so she works out everyday.
30 minute nap time;
afternoon walk to Cloud City coffee where they have really tasty pineapple cake. yummmmm
making dinner; I run a cooking show while Della sits in the bouncy chair as the audience and makes oohs and awws when I go through the 1, 2, 3′s of Eggplant Enchildas, Ratatouii, Oatmeal cookies and Chicken Putenesca. It should be an infomercial, I am THAT entertaining.
Singing and Dancing throughout the day. I’m in Love with a Big Blue Frog is the crowd pleaser, as well as shimmying to the tunes of Talking Heads in the sling.
This mom business is fulfilling in my heart and in my bones. Each day Della does something that makes me love her more than the day before. Today she discovered these wiggeling things at that bottom of her legs. She tried to put them in her mouth but she couldn’t figure out how to move the things that attach to her sides enough to reach them. So she just opened her mouth and crossed her eyes instead. Right now she’s asleep with her head in my armpit. I wonder how comfortable that really is? Josh and I are blessed people to be able to love and enjoy such an amazing creature. Bottomless happiness, “Meh’s” and all
Love, Ginger
