Snow.
Della is talking up a storm. She likes the falling leaves, but not the blowing wind. Pink seems to be her best color. The Giraffes still reign supreme, but there’s this bizarre elephant rattle that’s starting to take a close 2nd to them.
The snow is starting up early this year. Global warming? Penguin revolution? Not sure, either way; we’re hoping to get some good snowboarding out of it this year. Last year Josh and AMS had a full season’s pass at snoqualmie. This year, hmm – I think we’ll all wander. There’s a new setup for Ginger that was tempting her last season. Brand new bindings, newish board (she’s had it for years). All tuned up and ready to fall. I happened to end up with 2 new skateboards in the last few months (thanks to AMS and Ryan) … I’m all set for the snow, it’s a bit more forgiving. Wish Della could get strapped on and come along, something tells me she’d rip it up.
Music. Busy Busy. I sang on a club song for a friend, FCS has been practicing and recording early LP material.
Film. I finished up working on the DVD for a documentary called ‘Umm Kulthum: A Voice Like Egypt’. Wonderful film about the most famous singer / musician to come out of the Middle East. She had this influence over lyrics and crowds … she rolls the words out and keeps the audience on the edge of their seats waiting for more. People travelled around the world to see her perform. The DVD had a new director commentary on it … plus she sent over some photos from the production (the film is from 1996). Worthy watch. I’d guess the western world isn’t as aware of her contribution to music, hoefully this will open a few eyes and ears.
